About Coronado Hospital Foundation
Since 1978, Coronado Hospital Foundation has been dedicated to enhancing the current and future health care needs of Coronado residents, visitors and the surrounding community through support of programs, services and equipment at Sharp Coronado Hospital.
Sharp Coronado Hospital and Healthcare Center is a 181-bed, not-for-profit community hospital that provides medical and surgical care, intensive care, sub-acute and long-term care and emergency services just six minutes from downtown in the beach city of Coronado. The team of more than 500 employees and 200 physicians represent more than 30 health care specialties and sub-specialties. Each year, physicians and staff care for more than 43,000 patients between inpatient, outpatient and emergency services.
As the first Designated Planetree Patient-Centered Hospital in California, Sharp Coronado provides an innovative health care experience for patients and their families. Planetree is a coalition of more than 70 hospitals nationwide committed to improving medical care from the patient's perspective. Through a holistic approach that encourages healing in all dimensions; mental, emotional, spiritual and social as well as physical, Planetree seeks to maximize health care outcomes. It integrates complementary medical therapies such as mind/body medicine and therapeutic massage with conventional medical therapies.
The Foundation serves as the property owner and philanthropic arm of Sharp Coronado Hospital, raising funds from individuals and businesses to support the needs of the hospital and its patients through various giving opportunities and events.
Sharp Coronado Hospital and Coronado Hospital Foundation are governed by separate boards made up of local citizens and members of the hospital's medical staff. Learn more about Coronado Hospital Foundation's board of directors and staff.
