Campaign for Emergency and Intensive Care
Help us expand emergency services at Sharp Coronado Hospital

Sharp Coronado Hospital continues to receive national recognition for its excellence in providing high-quality medical services and patient-centered care to Coronado residents, visitors and the surrounding communities. As the demand for emergency services increases locally and nationally, Sharp Coronado has identified the Emergency Department (ED) as the priority for expansion and improvement.

Sharp Coronado is embarking on a $37.8 million project to include the expansion of emergency services, relocation of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and seismic retrofitting of the hospital tower. Coronado Hospital Foundation has committed to a $12 million fundraising campaign to contribute to the project and Sharp HealthCare will supplement the $25.8 million needed for the seismic retrofitting (pictured above).

Scheduled to open in Fall 2023, the revitalized Emergency and Intensive Care areas will reflect the highest level of patient-centered care and healing environment that patients at the hospital are accustomed to.

The ED will offer 7 new private rooms for patients during their greatest time of need. The expansion from 8 beds to 15 will significantly reduce wait times. The Intensive Care Unit will be relocated to the hospital's fourth floor, where 7 state-of-the-art private rooms will feature stunning views of the Coronado community and a family lounge will provide a comfortable space for patient's loved ones (pictured below).

The Campaign for Emergency and Intensive Care is made possible through the generous support of grateful patients and community members. With philanthropic funds already allocated from Project 2020, estate gifts and a leadership gift from an anonymous donor, Coronado Hospital Foundation has already secured more than $10.7 million towards the $12 million campaign goal as of Summer 2021.
