Giving Opportunities at Sharp Grossmont Hospital

Sharp Grossmont Hospital

David and Donna Long Cancer Center
The David and Donna Long Cancer Center offers San Diego cancer patients the latest cancer-fighting technologies and investigation therapies. In 2005, a tomotherapy treatment program was established at Sharp Grossmont Hospital's Center for Cancer Treatment. Tomotherapy is a novel approach to radiation therapy that has evolved from the convergence of research from several fields. The excitement of tomotherapy stems from its potential to escalate doses of radiation to unprecedented levels, without increasing toxicity to patients. The Radixact TomoTherapy is one of the most advanced therapies involving a combination of image guidance (IG) -intensity- modulated radiation and CT scanning. It provides real time images to customize the radiation to the exact patient's tumor, which spares healthy tissue and is effective in treating all types of cancer. Your designated gift will help us continue to bring superior cancer treatment to patients throughout San Diego County.

Stroke Care

Sharp Grossmont is a Comprehensive Stroke Center - the highest designation given by The Joint Commission in association with the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. Sharp Grossmont sees more stroke patients than any other hospital in San Diego County. Fast, high-quality care is so important for our patients. With a unit dedicated to stroke care, and clinicians who are experts in Stroke Care, Sharp Grossmont is committed to being the best place for patients to receive treatment. We offer around-the-clock 24/7 multidisciplinary stroke care including neurologists, neuro interventionists, a stroke specialist nurse practitioner, specialty trained stroke nurses, and rehabilitation. We have the most advanced imaging and surgical technologies, such as our bi-plane cardiac catheter lab operating room in our Burr Heart & Vascular Center, to perform complex procedures, including brain aneurysm clipping, mechanical thrombectomy, vascular malformation surgery, and carotid endarterectomy-procedures used to repair and restore brain function after a stroke. It is our goal to ensure patients receive the level of care needed to get back to the highest level of independence and productivity.

Behavioral Health Care

Sharp Grossmont has been a leader in caring for behavioral health patients for over 35 years. As the needs of the unique patient population change, we must also adapt to continue providing high quality, compassionate care. The goal is to help individuals in crisis regain their optimal level of functioning and achieve a renewed sense of emotional stability and wellness by providing services both in the hospital and outpatient services.
