Inspired Giving: The George Hurst Story
George Hurst is a third generation resident of San Diego's East County. In the early 1960s, with a freshly minted law degree in hand, he returned home to establish his practice and raise a family. By age 28, George was deeply involved in his community and was soon elected to the board of the Grossmont Healthcare District, a role he filled for three decades. He then served for eight years on the Grossmont Hospital Foundation Board of Directors. "Our hospital has truly been the passion of my life," says George. "When Sharp leaders and physicians shared their vision for acquiring the latest cancer treatment technologies, I was inspired to help fund these advancements at Sharp Grossmont." Today the hospital is also a beneficiary of the Hurst's estate, further testimony to George's belief that no cause is more worthy than the health of his community.
