Inspired Giving: The Susan Stone Story
“To me, it is more than a
donation — it is an investment in the human spirit,” explains Susan, a CONE scholarship recipient who now gives back to the program as a donor.
As a student nurse, Susan Stone, RN, received her training at hospitals throughout San Diego.
“I saw that it was different at Sharp. Becoming a Sharp nurse was the turning point in my life,” recalls Susan. Senior nurses encouraged Susan to continue her clinical education. And thanks to a scholarship made possible by Sharp, she attained her dream of earning a doctorate degree.
Today, Susan is a chief nursing officer and leader of Sharp HealthCare’s unique Center of Nursing Excellence. Created to provide mentoring and lifelong learning, the Center exemplifies the high value that Sharp places on its nurses. That’s why Susan is also a philanthropic supporter of the Center.
“I have been so fortunate in my life’s work and have benefited from the generosity of others. This is a way for me to give back and contribute to the future of nursing. I believe my gift is much more than a donation. It is an investment in the human spirit.”
